The Lenovo 100S is an inexpensive notepad and I should probably not expect much from it, but my concerns are all the articles I am reading about Lenovo computers on their own website that tell me I must do things to secure my data on the computer they sold me. Slow performance reports abound for Windows 10 and I am going to try fixes uggested.

Nothing. CPU still running at 100% and the Speed is still set to 2.47 GHz (according to Task Manager - Performance) on a Celeron N3060@ 1.60GHz. I tried turning off Kaspersky completely and no change. Then when I rebooted, Kaspersky did not start and Windows Defender started. The Kaspersky icon would not start at all. I restarted the laptop again and had to manual restart Kaspersky. I checked the settings and it was set to start Kaspersky at start up. Now Kaspersky is trying to update it's database for the past three hours. Here is the log (so far):

The madule will not let me stop the update either. So I contacted Kaspersky Support. I shared the issue and the log file above and the whole Update Log (the log file above is just the details from the current attempt to update):

and the tech suggested I reset Internet Explorer. I never used IE and didn't even know it was on this machine since Microsoft pushes meto use Edge so much. So I said thank you, disconnected, shut down, and restarted.

The first thing I see is Kaspersky Password manager asked for my password, normal. Then I see a message that Windows Defender needs to scan my computer. Then I see that Kaspersky Secure Connection is enabled. Then I see that Kaspersky could not connect to update. This is the Log:

So I open Kaspersky and click update and it updates in less than 2 minutes. Halleluya, but WTF? The dam DFCAgent is no longer in the Task Manager and the CPU is no longer stuck at 100% running 155% overclocked and it is fluctuating wildly between 20 and 80% and running under 1.60GHz most of the time and that sounds great, but we shall see what the rest of the day brings. Huh? WTF? Too soon for a Yay?

So I will see what happens later when I restart again. Right now, the CPU is still running at 100% and the the computer is running less sluggishly and I am going to try to get some browsing for jobs and some writing done.
