Yup, there are some people born wit a silver, or golden, or even more in their mouth and some not so much. Some people have lucky breaks being in the right place at the right time with the right mindset and skills and some just don't seem to get breaks no matter how hard they might try. Some say we make our own breaks and some say it's karma or fate and some explain it in other ways, but most of the talent in the human race is untapped because the golden tickets are very limited and very few get them, for whatever reason. As the song goes, some guys have all the luck... I'm happy with the little I've got lol :)
So last night a friend gave me account info for his cable TV so I can watch the UCF game on my computer today. Interesting how the game feed lags routinely right as the offensive team lines up over the ball and then jumps to the end of the play half the time, at least. What is interesting is not one commercial has lagged even a split second. The timing is way beyond coincidence. Ridiculously obvious. I can watch CBS and Hulu shows for hours without any least all but now it is 90% of the plays are frozen just as the offense gets set and then flash to then end of the play, or further. Why would I ever pay for such a service?
Anyway, I wanted to stay here today and not go to a sport bar or further, back to Sarducci's place, because I really needed to do some laundry. Eb has been doing laundry for a week now as I mentioned last weekend when he stopped me from finishing my laundry so e could do some. As is his way, he does not know how to share so he leaves his dirty clothes everywhere and leave clothes in the washer and dryer all week. Every time I ask him if he's done or check the washer and dryer when he is out there's clothes in them. All week. So staying here today was unnecessary, but I am not going anywhere now that the game is in progress and I can actually sort of watch it.
I believe that Auburn may have the top defense in the country and I believe UCF has the top offense in the country and so far, the defense is winning. UCF just tied it up 3-3 in the second quarter. UCF's offense has sputtered worse than the ESPN-Spectrum stream. I can see the UCF defense already getting tired and they can't seem to get any pressure on the Auburn QB who is running out of the pocket and completing passes a lot. Need some breaks (like UCF gave Auburn by fumbling at mid-field which lead to the Auburn field goal).
Eb apparently had nothing to do for New Years, which is odd because he does go out sometimes. I have no idea where he goes, probably to eat out a lot since he is very large, seldom cooks, and lives rent free with extra income from my rent. When I left last night he was sitting here playing his video game, which is what he does most of the time. He's currently cooking something which means the kitchen will be an occupied mess for a while so I'll be eating out of cans or ordering in. I really did not want to spend more money of delivery food today as I've gone over the limit on my primary credit card this month, but living here is proving a lot more costly than it ought to be. He just does not know how to live with someone. It's his place and I have a room, that's it.
The person who responded to the roommate ad has a furnished room to rent No, I do not want to put even more of my stuff in storage and pay even more than I am paying here to live in someone's house.
UCF! UCF! UCF! they recovered a fumble and took it in for a touchdown. Alright, maybe I'll see them upset Auburn 10 pint favored today and finish the season with their best ranking ever (prior best was 10th). They need to get their offense going. And this lage crap needs to stop. Only during the game, only right as the play is about to start. The streaming game is field sound only, no announcers. Ordinarily, I'd like that but I have not seen much UCF this year and would like to learn who the players are a bit. And after the fumble and UCF touchdown, Auburn is unsettled and fell apart on the next series, punting on 4th and 28 after a sack and two big penalties, including an unsportsmanlike conduct after the third down play. Come on UCF, capitalize on this now, right now.
Damn, dropped ball on a pass that should have been caught. UCF needs to run outside more and tire out the Auburn defensive line who are huge and need to be burned out. Another blown play, that would have been a touchdown. UCF's #1 in the country offense is sucking bad, but they must get their act together because their defense can't win this game on it's own. Another Auburn penalty, 6 already. Good sign. But Auburn's QB has a lot of time most of the time and is completing way too many passes and getting too many first downs. The opposite is happening for UCF up to this point. Big third and 1 play. Measurement. First down Auburn called on the field, but it is under review... a long review.... ruling on the field stands dangit. The UCF defense definitely needs help from the offence. Auburn is down to grind and wear out the UCF defense. Maybe time will run out in the half. UCF defense needs some breaks and a lot of help from the UCF offense to win this game. Did I say that again? lol :)
So I'm not starving yet, but I am getting a bit hungry. Eb is watching some court TV reality show. He seems to like those. Big third down play, third nd ten at the UCF 21, 59 seconds in the half SACK! YES! Fifth sack of the game. Perfect! The defensive coach seems to be substituting players and calling blitzes really well. Use what you've got. No wonder the entire coaching staff was stolen by Nebraska. Long field goal try... UCF calls time out... yeah, they aren't looking to move down the field in 45 seconds against Auburn. Kick is good, 10-6 UCF and let's be careful and take that into the locker room for halftime.
38 seconds remaining, UCF ball on their own 30 yard line. They are going to try to get more points. Moving downfield. Now 7 seconds left on the Auburn 30 so a long field goal try coming up. 45 yard attempt and it is good. 13-3 halftime lead for UCF. Yes! But let's see if the SEC referees take over and give Auburn the game in the second half as is so often the case in college football. The first few plays will show that.
So the washer and dryer is occupied and has been all week. The sink is occupied by the portable dishwasher that hooks up to the sink tap. I usually have to disconnect that when I want to wash a dish. The bathroom sink doesn't drain well at all so it can't be used to wash anything. The counters and oven is in it's usual filthy state and without a sink, cleaning a spot to cook isn't happening. Even the toilet bowl is blocked by the thing he uses to lift his feet when he poops.
First three pays of the second half, holding not called on Auburn letting them run a kickoff back 75 yards. Then a receiver steps out of bounds and catches a ball in the end zone but that is not called. Instead a targeting call is made which can throw one of the UCF defebsive backs out of the game. So the refs gave Auburn 7 points before UCF could blink and they are trying to take a key UCF defender out of the game. So after a og review they decided to give Auburn the touchdown claiming the receiver didn't step out (though he did), but they threw UCF a bone by pulling back on the bullshit defensive targeting call as if that's fair. So new game 13-13, thanks to the 12th man. UCF needs to forget the first few plays of the second half and get their offense on track right now, or the momentum the refs gave Auburn could turn this into a rout.
Focus.
Not. Fourth and 1 and a false start on UCF. Refs or shaking after the second half opening or both? Wobbly punt. UCF is wobbling and Auburn is going to go for a knocked out on the next series. It is the most important series of the game for the UCF defense to this point. a Three and out gives them time to regroup and recover. Another Auburn touchdown and they are in deep trouble. Not having anyone to watch with or talk to during a close game is bringing on sadness... alas... Jackson is not responding to texts even though she is watching the game. I shouldn't even text her anymore. After all the years of routing for the Cubs with her, she showed me I was written out of her life when the Cubs won the World Series ad she didn't even care I had nowhere to watch it, no less communicate about it with me. Whatever, I just have to stop reaching out and stop responding.
First play for Auburn, 13 yards on the ground. UCF is in trouble. Need a stop here. And after thinking about Jackson, I really don't want to see UCF lose by myself. The refs allowed an Auburn receiver to push off and a 31 yard pass play moves Auburn into field goal range. UCF must get themselves together fast. And I want food now. Staying here to watch this game is turning into a big mistake. Auburn is running right over UCF now. Touchdown. 20-13 Auburn.
The refs set it up and UCF definitely did not come out of the locker room ready to play football and Auburn is puttig the foot on UCF's neck. A touchdown or a potential blowout, that is UCF's choice now. The #1 offense in the country will be ridiculed and prove they do not belong in the upper division with the big boys if they can't get their act together now. Hunger and facing this living situation and facing the abandonment and most of all, facing the refugee life I've been living for is years because I gave too much away to a user once again is influencing this sudden depressive mood, but... some guys don't have all the luck, that's me in spades.
The lack of proper coaching by the coaching staff that moved to Nebraska but was allowed to come back to coach this game is showing. UCF players are cramping. It's getting worse. Come on UCF, show why you were the #1 ranked offense in the country. Make the game respectable, at least.
Not happening. Another weak offensive series. Auburn's ball... again. The radio announcers are noticing the ref bias and we shall see if others on the field are noticing too, specifically the refs themselves. Maybe they'll self-correct, especially with the momentum so far on the Auburn's side now. Maybe they'll be fair at least as long as Auburn keeps the lead. UCF needs a drive, better yet a touchdown... soon.
And they get it. 20-20. The game may not be over, but now that it's tied we shall see if the Refs go back to the bias.
Meanwhile, I've got to get Jackson's betrayal out of my head and the crappy unhealthy living situation and SEC referee bias out of my head and everything depressing and hurting out of my head and get back to the start of this entry. Appreciative that I can see the game because someone trusted me and gifted me with their login and password. Appreciative that I a not living in my car and that I have a job. Appreciative that I have friends to play games with, albeit inactive table games. Appreciative that softball will start up again soon and I am still healthy enough to play... a lot.
Come on defense, step it up.
And they do. Another stop, another sack, and the end of the third quarter is 20-20 with UCF getting the ball. The sports announcers say momentum is squarely on the side of UCF. Let's hope they are right. I am not effectively getting hunger out of my head though. Unfortunately, I ate pizza and pasta and rice last night and that's all tat is available for delivery around here right now. The digestive system and anus will not be happy with me if I don't get some greens and alternative foods into my system. But I am hungry.
There's the punt. And there's the frozen screen. It finally came back with the teams in the huddle for the next play. Cme on UCF!. hey are moving the ball. The QB is finally making some connections. Yes and yes again. UCF down to the 2 yard line but they are reviewing whether he fell on to the pylon. Are the refs stepping in to take over? Let's see which side they fall on now that the game is tied. They reversed the play and took away the catch... completely Auburn's call. Ridiculous. But UCF gets the first down on the next play. The refs took the 2 yard line and probably touchdown away, but UCF is not quitting. And the passing game is effective for another touchdown, yes. 27-20 UCF comes back. This could be a shootout and that is UCF's kind of game There is hope, lots of hope. See what happens when I get back out of the funk?
And YES! another defensive stop. Auburn punts. And UCF is moving again. But a fumble leads to a field goal attempt and that is blocked. Sloppy. Just when UCF could have put Aburn away, momentum swings back to Auburn. They should have gone for it on 4th and three after the fumble. Back to the defense again. Come on defense. One more big three and out would be so important here. Let the clock run down too. They could have taken at least two or three more minutes off the clock on the last drive but they played hurry up. Not a good coaching call.
So Auburn ball again. And the refs call a 15 yard pas interference on UCF. Next pla the refs call encroachment on UCF. Pattern? Next play, INTERCEPTION UCF! TOUCHDOWN UCF! 34-20. Refs couldn't make a call on that. 5:56 left. Do not hurry up. Milk that clock. Smart plays. QB runs off passing plays have worked great, do it! Avoid giving the refs any chance of giving Auburn the game.
Next series, refs throw a UCF defender out of the game. They tried earlier but the replay didn't let them. No bias there, sure. Amazing. Auburn is going downfield and moving the ball well. In the red zone. Third down and 3 yards to go. Auburn touchdown dammit. 34-27 UCF. UCF needs to use 4 minutes and either score or let the clock run out. No mistakes. Don't give it away and don't let the refs take it away.
Kickoff. Yes, good run back to the 45 yard line. Now lay the same offense, but slow it down and be extra careful. 4:02 left. UCF moving the ball. Will the refs stop the clock with flags? Sure enough, 15 yard penalty against UCF stops the clock and moves them out of field goal range. Refs were wrong, but it's not a lay that can be challenged. Second and 11. 2:33 left. Need a first down. Dammit, stopped on a sweep. Auburn time out. 2:26 left third down and 9. Pass or be conservative? I say fake pass QB run. Dam, hand off... why not go with what is working??? QB runs have been working? You better make this long field goal and not let it be blocked.
Auburn calls it's last time out and it's going to come down to the UCF defense. MISSED THE FUCKING FIELD GOAL! Stupid coaching calls, obvious ref bias, UCF defense must make stops now. 2:18 left, no time out for Auburn. First down - incomplete. Three more to go. Second down - incomplete. Two more to go. Third down - gain of two and 4th and 8 and clock running. First down. clock running. Another pass past midfield. 1:14 left. 1:04 left, First down - incomplete. Will the efs call an end zone interference to give Auburn a touchdown?
Second down. Time out UCF. Resting the defense? But you give Auburn a rest and their best player was resting on the bench after that play.Questionable coaching call UCF. Must put pressure on the QB. And the best receiver was able to come back into the game. And a rested Auburn offense completes another pass and the receiver runs out of bounds. 58 seconds third and 4. First down. 40 second left. On UCF 35. Another first down 33 seconds, injured player for Auburn. Sure. And the refs do not take a 10 second run off, bullshit. 33 seconds left and the SEC trickery is working. The announcers say the rule is not fair and Auburn got a big break. Honest announcers, at least.
INTERCEPTION!!! - UCF WINS!!!
The only undefeated team in college football remains undefeated.
There is balance and fairness in the universe.
And in the end... all is well.
I tried to order food but the usual place must be closed because they put me in the queue but never answered. So I am going out between games to find some food. I'll be back to babble later. Like I said, I definitely don't have all the luck, but I am definitely happy with the little I get.
Wish you were here, keep hoping, make it a great year :)
Narf! :)
