Something Must Have Happened

I don't know what happened but something must have happened so I came back here to write about it even if I don't remember what it is because it wasn't Friday, after all, so there's nothing to be scared of so don't be scared now. One thing happening is dead like me: life after dead and the first most obvious thing we notice is the biggest flaw that ruins the opening and sets a horrible first impression, whomever is trying to be Lara Harris (I don't even want to know) is not even close to that adorable vulnerable sexy effervescent waif and absolutely completely upsets the chemistry. She is so bad the person who posted the movie on youtube actually put a box telling viewers to shut up, we know the new Daisy sucks or something like that.

Second impression is they tried too hard to be up to date and modern and that took the quaint atmosphere and connection to the past that was inherent to the whole dead thing right out of the mix, which removes much of the mystery and subtle suspense right that created the background tapestry... it is replaced by sleazy over-the-top ritz and glamour that just doesn't fit wit the characters or the two years of story development. And the kiss? WTF. Even the kid George isn't right, she's never laugh like that. Such a mess, it's as if the writers never watched the original show. The clever dialogue seems to be replaced by soap opera boredom. Mom suddenly forgot how to be the insensitive sarcastic bitch pushing everyone away and is the loving empathic nurturer? Explain the extreme personality change? George is right, it's like invasion of the body snatchers.

Either the writers completed forgot how to write well (or they are all different) or the actors forgot their characters. Either way, it's a sequel that sucks. Will any of the cliffhangers from the suddenly ended series be explored, explained, or resolved?

I am waiting for the turn. The surprise that the new group leader is actually the devil of sorts and the group is being seduced to the dark side (and the lack of consequences is irritatingly unrealistic and illogical), all but George who is flipping out instead of being George, stoic and outside, observing rather than being part of the madness.

The seventh part (of ten parts) begins and it sucks even more. The who concept of the story has changed. It's a soap opera, not a story about grim reapers doing their job. It's moving too fast, too illogically, too stupidly. The lines they crossed destroy the bonding of the two years of story. It was great to see George again, but the story simply sucked.

George's new power from the last episode solves the problem of the new group leader?

Nope, no depth, no connections to the nissing pieces fans longed for when the series ended, the opportunity to create a Serenity from aFirefly completely blown. The ending was almost a clever nce touch, but just as illogical and un-threaded as the rest of the bad story line. All in all, the dead like me movie was the thirtiest best episode of a 29 episode tv show.

That's what happened.

Narf :)
